Woodwind Repairs

John Morris has been servicing and repairing instruments since 1980. A member of NAPBIRT (National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians USA), he utilizes the very best tools, materials and techniques to offer you a top quality job every time.

A sax player himself, you can often find John lovingly restoring a vintage sax or clarinet. Whether you are a student or professional player, we are able to take care of your instrument, from yearly servicing to larger jobs such as dent removal of bells on Saxophones and Bass Clarinets to repadding and full restorations.

Servicing of your woodwind instrument should be done on average once a year. Servicing includes removal of necessary key work, reseating of pads and realignment of bent keys. It also includes the replacement, if required, of up to three pads and three key corks. Keys are oiled and regulated, and a Sterisol bore is used to clean the instrument and mouthpiece.

Service Prices*:
Flute or Clarinet - $130.00
Piccolo, Bass Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, or Bassoon - $150.00

Full overhauls of your woodwind instrument should be done only as needed, and include removal of all keys and a total repad and recork of the instrument. All keys are oiled and regulated, and the instrument and mouthpiece are cleaned using ultrasonics or a Sterisol bore.

Overhaul Prices*:
Flute or Clarinet - $360.00
Piccolo, Bass Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, or Bassoon - $480.00

Cork replacements occasionally need to be done on woodwind instruments outside of servicing. In these cases, the minimum workshop charge is $45.00.
Single tenon cork replacement - $45.00
Extra tenon corks - $15.00 each
Gooseneck cork - $45.00

All other work will be assessed on an individual basis.
