I began learning guitar a few years ago while my son was having music lessons at the Australian Academy of Music. I thought to myself, why should he have all the fun, so I started lessons too. I bought myself a beautiful hand made aPurla guitar from their shop as inspiration to keep up with my home practice and I have never looked back. With the encouragement and support of owners John and Lesley as well as countless others, I have so much fun and am improving every day. I feel like one of the family and count the time I spend at the academy as some of the best. Their encouragement for me to perform and play is awesome and I’m excited to keep rocking on.

My 14 year old son started playing electric guitar at home and we enrolled him with Nick at the Academy – it supercharged his skills and confidence and within a year he was performing at “Open Mic” nights. He connects and loves jamming with Nick, he now plays in a band and we could not have asked for any better music family to be part of.

I have been going to the Australian Academy of music for about 3 years now. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. A decision I made for me to learn and grow in my music journey whilst enjoying my more senior years on planet earth. My Guitar and Piano Teacher Rita is a saint having to put up with me and my off and on weeks of practice. The environment is uplifting, friendly and incredibly welcoming. Its lovely to see the age spectrum of the students. When you stay long enough and you see the students teaching the younger ones ….the circle of music life is well and very nourished in this delightful Family Business
